Hirotaka Nakano is an Associate Senior Vice President of the Multimedia Laboratories of NTT DoCoMo, Inc., where he is currently in charge of mobile multimedia communication research and development. He received his B.D, M.D and Ph. D. degree from University of Tokyo in 1972, 1974 and 1977 respectively. Consecutively he joined Communications Laboratories of NTT Public Corporation (which was changed to NTT Laboratories in 1985) and had been engaged in research and development of picture and video information systems such as Videotex systems (Character and pattern based image-DB system) and video-on -demand (VOD) systems. He is also interested in image input, processing and retrieval architecture for those systems.
